Last Friday, June 22, I officially received my green card on the mail, which allows me to stay for in the United States as a resident. This puts an end to the another stage of a journey that began six and a half years ago when I came to study a masters degree and that continues today.

Trying to remember what I was thinking when I was 21 years old and got on a plane to Texas, my brain was going a million miles per hour trying to imagine millions of possible scenarios but one thing for sure is that I could have not predicted even one of the more than 2200 days that I have been here. Every day has been unexpected and although sometimes it has been tough I wouldn’t change very few of the situations I have lived. I will for sure remove some of my mistakes!

I want to take this opportunity to thank all of those who has been part of this adventure with me, there was no way I could have made it without all of you. My mom for being there every day giving me the strength I needed to continue. Fabri, Amanda and Nick (and Mocha) for opening me their home and giving me more chances than I deserved. My family in Colombia who make me feel more than welcome everytime I go and make it as hard to leave as the first time. Marcos that has become my best friend and has done more than what a friend would do. And so many others that have been a fundamental part of this journey as bedrocks and that now I call friends: Cagdas, Kris, Christine. Along with may others at my work on Oculus360 and Anaconda (Continuum) that helped made this possible. I am sorry if I left you off the list but but be assured that every person I have met has been and continues to be important to me.

Thanks to all those who have supported me, helped me, forgiven me, and more … I will continue working everyday so that you are proud of me. Or at least make you laugh with an inappropriate joke :) The adventure continues!

El pasado viernes 22 de Junio recibí oficialmente mi green card la cual me permite estar en los Estados Unidos como residente. Esto pone fin a la otra etapa más de una trayectoria que se inicio hace seis años y medio cuando vine a estudiar una maestría y que hoy continúa.

Intentando recordar lo que pensaba cuando tenía 21 años y me monte en un avión hacia Texas, iba con el cerebro mil por hora imaginándome millones de escenarios posibles solo tengo seguro que no pude haber precedido lo que habría pasado en ni siquiera uno de los más de 2200 días que he pasado acá. Cada día ha sido inesperado y aunque a veces ha sido duro cambiaría muy pocas de las situaciones que he vivido. Venga, ¡qué algún error mío si que lo quitaría!

Tomo esta oportunidad para agradecer a todos los que han sido parte de esta aventura conmigo, no hay forma de lo que lo hubiera logrado sin todos ustedes. Mi madre por estar presente en cada día dándome fuerzas que necesitaba para continuar. Fabri, Amanda y Nicolas (y Mocha) por haberme recibido en su casa, dándome miles de oportunidades más de las que merecía. Mi familia en Colombia que me hacen sentir más que bienvenido cuando voy y hacen que irme sea tan doloroso como la primera vez. Marcos que se ha vuelto mi mejor amigo y ha hecho más de lo que un amigo podría hacer. Y muchos otros que han sido parte fundamental de esta aventura como pilares que me ayudaron en épocas difíciles y que ahora llamo mis amigos: Cagdas, Kris, Christine. Junto a muchas personas en mis trabajos en Oculus360 y Anaconda (Continuum) que hicieron que esto fuera posible. Perdón si os dejo por afuera pero tened por seguro que cada persona que he conocido ha sido y sigue siendo importante para mí.

Gracias a todos los que me han apoyado, ayudado, perdonado, y más… seguiré trabajando para que estéis orgullosos de mí. O por lo menos hacerlos reir con una broma un poco inapropiada :) ¡La aventura continúa!
